We are staying in a furnished apartment in East Melbourne. It is in a nice residential area, close to shopping and restaurants, and just a 10 minute walk to the city business district. The beautiful Fitzroy Gardens are a half block away, and include Captain Cook's Cottage, a miniature replica of a Tudor Village, and many ponds and fountains.
