The Great Ocean Road

Today we took an all-day bus tour to the Great Ocean Road that stretches for 243 kilometers along the southeastern coast between Torquay and Warrnambool. It was built between 1919 and 1932.

On the way to Apollo Bay, a seaside village, we saw some kangaroos and koalas. The kangaroos were too far away to get a picture, but I got a few snapshots of two sleeping koalas.

The Twelve Apostles are limestone rock formations up to 45 meters high and are the result of erosion that began 20 million years ago.

We finished the day by taking a helicopter ride from Port Campbell to view the magnificent shoreline and the Twelve Apostles from the air.
